10 Tips For Growing Your Hair

When you're trying to grow long, healthy hair, the process can seem to take forever. Making simple changes to your haircare regimen can make all the difference in your hair growth rate. Whether that's using a different brush, decreasing the amount of heat you use on your hair, or sleeping on a silk pillowcase, there are hair growth tips that will assist in growing your hair faster. Below are 10 tips that you can apply to your day-to-day regimen.

1. Deep condition often
Deep conditioning regularly helps to nourish and strengthen hair. If you have color-treated hair or often use heat on your hair, deep conditioning can help decrease the damage from these treatments. And of course, deep conditioning can help your hair grow. For even better results, try applying heat while the deep conditioner is on. This can be done with a steamer, wrapping a damp hot towel around your hair, or by wearing a plastic cap. However, be careful as to not deep condition too often. Deep conditioning more than is required for your hair can lead to over conditioning; once a week should suffice. 2. Wash hair with cool water instead of hot
Hot water can be rough on hair, only cool or warm water should be used. Warm water should only be used when washing the hair, not when rinsing products out. This is because cold water closes the cuticle and pores which helps to seal in hair’s moisture.
3. Get frequent trims
Holding on to dead ends can do the opposite of what you are hoping for. Split ends can end up causing breakage to your hair. As difficult as it is to lose some length, it will pay off in long run. We recommend getting a trim every 6-8 weeks, you can schedule an appointment with Brittany today to clip those dead ends!
4. Drink lots of water
Drinking a good amount of water each day will help to strengthen your hair, leading to hair growth. We recommend drinking half of your body weight in water per day for the best results. *Your skin will thank you also
 5. Wash less frequently
Constantly shampooing your hair strips your hair of the natural oils it needs to grow. Depending on your hair type and texture will determine how often you should shampoo, we recommend washing once a week; and don’t forget to include your deep conditioner with your weekly wash!
6. Brush instead of comb
Hair is especially susceptible to breakage when it's wet. To eliminate the amount of breakage, be sure to use a brush specific to detangling and use products with a good amount of slip to make your hair easy to brush through.
7. Try finger detangling
Finger detangling is gentler on the hair than using a brush or comb. It can help to prevent breakage and can be better for the ends of your hair. We recommend using a brush to detangle after applying your deep conditioner and finger detangling after applying your leave in conditioner.
8. Use natural products
Natural hair care products provide more nourishment to your hair than other products. There are many benefits to using natural hair products, you can read more about it in our article “Reasons to use natural hair care products”.
9. Protective styling/don’t manipulate hair daily
The less you manipulate your hair, the happier it will be. Protective styles help to retain length and moisture. Before styling your hair, remember to use very moisturizing products so that your hair does not dry out. Try using our Shea & Chebe Hair Growth Butter and our Revitalizing Growth Oil the next time you use a protective style.
10. Sleep on a silk pillowcase
Silk pillowcases help avoid tangles and breakage while you sleep, and the less breakage you experience, the longer your hair can grow!
